The image I chose for smart hair
at the beginning of the semester was a very sleek low ponytail with a side parting.
I liked how the ponytail came to the side and was very simple with the slick
side parting. This meant that it was easy to transform with multiple additions.
Elizabethan hairstyles often included lots of intricate detail, so this gave me
inspiration to add ribbon and beads to a halo plait. The ponytail was too
simple for my particular liking for this task. So to coincide with the
Elizabethan theme, I decided to add a frizzy outward end to the ponytail. The
colour I chose was also fairly blonde with a reddish tone, adding to the
Elizabethan trend.
We also learnt how to
transform straight hair to frizzy hair using heat. The process involved a pin,
curby grip and straighteners. Below, shows how this look was created and how it
can be altered.
You can alter the
thickness of hair to determine the intensity of the crimp. This shows quite a
thin strand of hair which will give a ‘frizzier’ effect.
The crimp on the left
has just been taken out and the crimp on the right has been brushed through to
create more volume.
Here, we can see that
I have backcombed the crimp to create a large mass of frizzed hair. I
particularly liked this as it was so soft and felt like candyfloss!
